The Parks And Recreation Department oversees city facilities and park open space areas in conjunction with providing opportunities for recreational service. Park facilities include a municipal pool, tennis courts, weight room/gym, soccer fields, softball fields, Riverfront park, Lions Park, Garrison Park, Recreation Studio and Civic Center.

Programs provided through the Parks & Recreation Department include Easter Egg Hunt, Annual Rhythm & Ribs Event, Brian Mickelsen Memorial Half-Marathon, 10K, and 2 mile Run/Walk, 10th Annual Independence Day Fireworks Extravaganza, Summer Youth Programs, Missoula Children's Theatre, Verde River Days, Walkin' on Main, Fall Carnival, Fishing Clinic and Derby, swim lessons, special interest classes, youth basketball program and various softball leagues and tournaments.

The Parks And Recreation Department also oversees the operation of the Cottonwood Equestrian and Animal Events Center and the Youth Advisory Commission; information on each of these is available by following the links provided.

The Facilities Management Division provides functional support to all other departments through building/facilities maintenance and management. The department provides the care-taking responsibilities for 15 city buildings and ground maintenance programs for over 85 acres of parklands, open space and the city cemetery.
